The famous Austrian crystal chandeliers adorning the ceilings of The Metropolitan Opera House were designed by Hans Harald Rath and given to the Metropolitan Opera by the Austrian government. Mr. Rath was President of the highly respected Austrian firm Lobmeyer. He also designed the lighting for the productions and homes of Richard Strauss and Hugo von Hofmannthal.
