Charlie Sheen Donates $1 Million to U.S. Troops

Perhaps in an attempt to atone for his past sins, Charlie Sheen announced today (July 16th) that he will donate 1% of the profits from his new FX show, "Anger Management," to the United Service Organization (USO).

The USO provides programs and services to U.S. troops and their families. With a pledge of 1% of the profits and a minimum of $1 million with no cap, the former "Two and a Half Men" star's donation will be the largest individual donation the USO has ever received.

The "Platoon" actor released a statement writing, "It's an honor for me to give back to these men and women of the military who have done so much for all of us. They put their lives on the line for us every day and I'm just happy that my work on 'Anger Management' can bring a little bit of relief to the troops and their families."

An entertainment facility for seriously injured troops in Bethesda, Maryland is the goal. The 46-year-old troubled star presents his first installment donation of $250,000 later this week.

Meanwhile General John I. Pray, Jr., Executive Vice President and Joint Chief of Staff, U.S. Air Force released a response to the charitable deed, stating, “[Sheen's] support is greatly appreciated, especially from our wounded warriors and their families.”
