China´s People Republic, honor guest of XI International Festival of Arts (FIA 08) in Costa Rica inaugurated this Saturday their pavillion on the gardens of Costa Rican Museum of Arts, were craft masters exhibit a sample of their work and several art forms of this ancient culture.

“To know a country it is mandatory to know its culture”, said China´s ambassador in Costa Rica, Wang Xiaoyuan, adding that his government hopes this pavillion promotes a greater cultural exchange among the two countries.

Culture minister of Costa Rica, María Elena Carballo, said that China seems to be an “apparently far culture” but both countries began to approach, and the Chinese Pavillion will allow a greater understanding.

On the Chinese Pavillion, visitors can see and buy traditional Chinese crafts such as “Chinese shadows”, pumpkin engravings, painted bottles, kites, cut paper and seal engravings.

As a guest of FIA 08, China is presenting the prestigious Beijing´s Opera, Youth of Taianjin, and a music and acrobatic ensemble.

FIA 08 will continue during nine days in San Jose, Costa Rica´s capital, and provinces of Alajuela and Puntarenas, with more than 70 artistic groups all around the world.
