Chris Brown is due in court today to face charges of felony assault and uttering criminal threats in the February 8, 2009 incident between him and Rihanna on the eve of the 2009 Grammy Awards and the Internet is buzzing with gossip that the pair wed in a secret ceremony in Miami.

(Learn more about the two felony charges laid against Chris Brown by visiting the Chris Brown Charged story.)

This couple may now be eligible for the Most Dysfunctional Celeb Couple of the Year award because gossip rag Star is pumping up the rumor mill with news that the tainted lovers are to wed.

During their rendezvous at P. Diddy's mansion this weekend, Brown allegedly begged for RiRi's forgiveness and proposed on the spot. An anonymous source -- the most reliable kind of source -- told Star: "All she's ever wanted was to be with him forever. Rihanna is looking for the husband-and-two-kids deal before she turns 25. She believes in fairy tales, and she wants to live hers with Chris. She was totally up front and confessed to him, 'I can't live without you."

If this is true, this only proves one sad fact: obsessive love is a dangerous thing.

couple had a tearful face-to-face meeting at Diddy's $14.5 million Miami mansion, during which an emotional Chris apologized, begged for forgiveness and proposed to her on the spot.

"All she's ever wanted was to be with him forever," a source tells Star. "Rihanna is looking for the husband-and-two-kids deal before she turns 25. She believes in fairy tales, and she wants to live hers with Chris. She was totally up front and confessed to him, 'I can't live without you.'"

The pair wasted no time making Rihanna's fairy tale come true. They even called a minister to the mansion on exclusive Star Island!

Rihanna has been quiet about the incident and the follow up stories of a reconciliation with Chris Brown but if the latest rumor proves true this could be the worst twist yet in an already tragic story.  Not only is it a terrible example for Rihanna to be setting for her young and impressionable fans, but it is unhealthy for the pair as a couple.

The alleged domestic violence incident involving R&B stars Chris Brown and Rihanna has stirred serious discussions about abusive relationships among teens.

Leslie Morgan Steiner is author of Crazy Love, which details Steiner's abusive first marriage. Steiner is joined by regular parenting contributors Dannette Tucker, who also survived an abusive relationship, and journalist Asra Nomani to explore ways to discuss abuse with youngsters who claim to be in love, and why many victims suffer in silence.

Marriage or no marriage, domestic assault in California is treated as a crime against the state and even without Rihanna's consent or cooperation charges could be laid.  A marriage after the fact also won't stop Rihanna from being compelled to testify as spousal privilege is not retroactive.

Spousal privilege applies to knowledge that is attained due to the free communication between husband and wife, or to the ability of the courts to force spousal testimony in civil cases or certain types of criminal charges.

Chris Brown and Rihanna were not husband and wife at the time of the alleged domestic assault and as such, if they have since married, privilege would not apply in the first recognition.

It would also not apply in the second recognition, compelling spousal testimony, as Rihanna is the alleged victim in this case. Privilege can not be invoked to avoid testifying when the charge relates to crimes against person or property.

section 972(e)(2) precludes a wife from asserting the spousal testimony privilege in “[a]
criminal proceeding in which” the husband “is charged with [a] crime against the person or property of a third person committed in the course of committing a crime against the person or property of” his wife. (PDF File)

Chris Brown is expected to appear in court today, March 5, 2009

I know freinds and famliy that break up like puppy love' all the time, after all the rants and arguments that turned physical. Days and even weeks later its business as usual with keeping up the relationship and this is how some people connect because this what they experienced as children or seen other relationships grow like this way. Sure this will happen again, But its nones of my business either~~ Maybe they should be more private about there personal relationships away from the gerneral public. Because I want entertainment not personal spat.

As a Barbadian native, I am very disappointed in the decisions of Rihanna.  She needs to get professional help and also start to love herself.  She is still very young and has time enough to find that special person who actually CARES for and RESPECTS her.  Where are her parents and relatives who need to talk some sense into her head, but probably she does not want to listen to them.  I pity that child, she is sick and is not aware of it.  It is also time that children stop looking at entertainers to be their role models, because parents should be their children's role models and not a stranger who has talent and no morals.  This is a great example of why standards are dropping dramatically in our society.  Some parents feel that because an individual has amazing talent, children should try to be like them and should look up to them.  If parents need some person that their children should  look up to and be their role model, their children need to look up to God our Heavenly Father who gives us all Health and Strength.  Rihanna you need to drop that loser, if the rumors are true that you are pregnant, then you wouldn't be the first or the last person to have a child out of wedlock.  Think about your safety, Chris Brown could have killed you that night, give thanks and prayers to God that you are alive and can make a better decision than being with the punk.  That is simply what he is, A PUNK, because only PUNKS beat on women.

As a Caribbean woman myself, I have to agree with Ms. Jacqueline. Rihanna is a huge, huge disappointment. I still cannot believe she let's this kid slap her around and then goes back to him. Furthermore, I'm disappointed in her parents as well for allowing her to get further into this mess. I always know Caribbean parents don't take that shit but i guess it's all the bright lights that has them in this mess. There is nothing we can say to get her out, but she should know better. I hope this eventually ends well and she do not make a fatal mistake.

As a caribbean woman, I think Rihanna is STUPID!  Not only does she isolate herself from her family an friends, but she goes back to the modern day IKE TURNER who beats her like a 2cent hoe in the middle of the street.  I thought we caribbean women were stonger than that... I thought we valued ourselves more than this and stood AGAINST abuse.  I think that Chris Briwn should beat her again... SHE IS ASKING for it... I am NO LONGER A FAN of Rihanna...She is a hipocrit~
