Chris Brown Arraignment Moved to April 6, Protection Order Issued
Chris Brown arrived at an LA courthouse on March 5, 2009 to answer two felony charges filed against him by the LA district attorney earlier in the day. It was a very short appearance in which Brown refused to address the court directly. Brown signed documents allowing his lawyer to speak on his behalf instead.
Charged with felony assault and felony uttering of criminal threats, Chris Brown's arraignment was pushed forward to April 6, 2009 at the request of his lawyer. Brown was released pending arraignment and a protection order was issued against him stating that he was not to threaten or harass his alleged victim.
The charges stem from a violent February 8, 2009 incident allegedly involving fellow R&B star Rihanna. Although details of the violent assault were released as evidence when charges were formally filed Rihanna has not been officially identified as the victim.
Lawyers for the unidentified victim, who was referred to in court as Ms. Fenty, were quick to state that they did not feel an order of protection was needed for their client.
After watching Brown sign a waiver of presence, allowing his lawyer to act on his behalf instead, the judge agreed to postpone the proceedings until April 6.
"Mr. Brown, you are ordered not to annoy harass, molest, threaten or use force or violence against anyone," the judge instructed Brown.
Rihanna's legal camp, who referred to her as Ms. Fenty, said that no such order was needed on her behalf.
The 19-year-old chart topper is facing a maximum sentence of 56 months in prison if convicted on both counts, leveled at him earlier today, of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury and making criminal threats.
L.A. police never formally identified Rihanna as the victim at the center of their domestic-violence investigation, but the sordid details of the case have been hard-pressed to remain under wraps from day one.

LOL, why does every superstar have to become perfect and accept the responsibility as a role model. I feel bad for Chris Brown even though he should know he was wrong for hitting a female. He has talent and a good circle of friends, I hope he just made a dumb mistake and will straighten his image out eventually. I seen him looking crazy in court from the video at www.chrisbrownsupport.com that site always has some updates on this ongoing story. Be easy world!
