Rihanna was prepared to be the star witness at the Chris Brown preliminary hearing June 22, 2009 but in a surprise move Brown plead guilty to assault as part of a plea deal reached with prosecutors.  Chris Brown will not serve any jail time, will do six months of community service, be on probation for five years and will have to go to counseling.

Judge says she plans to issue "a stay-away" order barring Chris Brown from contact with victim. Rihanna doesn't want it, her lawyer says

Brown pleads guilty to assault. Sentence is to be six months of community labor, five years probation and domestic violence counseling.

Chris Brown and prosecutors have reached a plea deal, his lawyer tells judge

Sources close to Rihanna say she was ready and willing to testify about her recollection of events on the night of February 8, 2009. Rihanna had been subpoenaed and was present at Chris Brown's preliminary hearing where she expressed that there was no need for a restraining order against Brown to protect her.

Chris Brown has plead guilty to a pre-Grammy Awards domestic assault against Rihanna in the case that shocked fans of both stars.  Both stars have maintained a steady silence about the details of the alleged assault, but have still managed to play out their hostilities toward one another in the media.

The couple briefly reconciled after the assault but fan pressure quikcly forced Rihanna to rethink that reunion.  Shortly after Chris Brown and Rihanna broke up for good nude photos of the starlet were leaked online.  The photos, which Rihanna claims were intended to stay private, were once in the posession of Chris Brown.

Whether or not Rihanna will testify is still unclear but she is ready to offer testimony if called. The injuries Rihanna suffered at the hands of Chris Brown were made public when TMZ released unlawfully obtained evidence photos taken by police.

When Chris Brown plead guilty Rihanna was spared the pain of testifying about events leading up to the assault that left her badly bruised, including speculation that a racy text message from a former lover of Chris Brown's caused a fight.

Rhianna is prepared to testify at Chris Brown's preliminary hearing today, which would mark the first time she publicly tells her side of what happened the night her boyfriend allegedly assaulted her, CNN reports.  The star may be questioned by Brown's attorney, Mark Geragos, about the couple's Grammy-night argument in a rented Lamborghini that, according to charges, turned violent. Though Geragos has said he wanted to avoid a public trial, plea-deal talks failed and a judge last week rejected his request to delay the hearing.
Emotions will likely run high as Rihanna relives the events of Feb. 8 when she was allegedly bruised and bloodied by Brown, who is required to attend the hearing and will be seated just feet away from the witness stand. Cameras won't be allowed in the courtroom.

"Prosecutors wouldn't bring her in to testify if they didn't think she was going to be a solid witness," says L.A. criminal defense attorney Steve Sitkoff, who's not involved with the case. "If Rihanna was going to change her story out of fear or to protect Brown, it generally would've happened by now."

Rihanna, whose attorney Donald Etra has insisted she will comply and tell the truth, will also be subject to cross-examination by Brown's attorney, Mark Geragos.

"I expect Geragos will go easy on her under cross-examination," says L.A. criminal defense attorney Jeffery Rubenstein, who's also not involved with the case. "No lawyer wants to be seen as victimizing a victim twice. But if he does play hardball, he'll do whatever he can to chip away at her credibility."

These two BOTH need to learn.  He should go to jail.  She should find someone better.  I can't believe that two people who used to look so happy together now look like this.

This is disgusting.

In reality most Americans typically do not respect Caribbean people.

When Caribbean people realize this they will be better off. They pretend a lot, and thats a fact.

Not all Americans are like that I know.

He saved a lot of people a lot of hassle by fessing up, that will have surely made the difference of  how to punish him. Glad he did not go to jail for this, like Ben said they used to be so happy together.
