Chris Brown For Reggae Sumfest 2008 In Jamaica

Reggae’s most prestigious music festival, Sumfest launched its 2008 staging with a bang at the Hilton Kingston Hotel in Jamaica on Wednesday.

The festival in its sixteenth year of existence is also Reggae’s longest running annual festival. Its stage has been graced by almost every major Reggae and Dancehall superstar including some of the world’s best international performers.
The event kicks off with beach parties on July 13th featuring Classique Disco and Dangerzone.

The following night the festival moves into high gear featuring heavyweights such as Beenie man, Bounti Killa, Mavado, Elephant Man, Busy Signal, Wayne Marshall and Vybz Kartel amongst others. Up and coming performers such as Spice, Assassin, Munga, and Demarco will also grace the stage.

On Friday evening Queen Ifrica takes the stage alongside the Don Corleone protégé named Pressure. The red hot Courtney John is set to thrill the crowd, taking a short pause from his European tour to satisfy with his sultry new flavor which has made his new album “Unselfish” a critically acclaimed hit. Other noted performers for Friday night include Jah Cure and Richie Spice.

The finale on Saturday July 19th is anticipated to be a night to remember. Patrons will be blessed with performances from the industry’s crème de la crème. The timeless Beres Hammond will grace the stage with young alumni members Tarrus Riley and the ever eloquent Etana. The double gems Brick n Lace are set to shine with the legendary John Holt closing this year’s festival.

International performers Ne-yo and Chris Brown are billed to perform on Friday night.
