NP Rank:
Christian Bale Apologizes For On-Set Rant at Hurlbut
Christian Bale has issued a response to his highly publicized rant at Shane Hurlbut on the set of Terminator Salvation, after the Director of Photography walked into Bale's eye line in the middle of a scene.
The actor called in to LA's KROQ radio station to publicly apologize for his angry tirade and attempted to explain his behaviour:
"I acted like a punk".
He added: "I was out of order beyond belief. I make no excuses for it."
The actor stresses that the 3-minute long verbal assault did not stem from his ego:
"The thing that disturbs me so much is that I've heard a lot of people saying that I seem to think that I'm better than anybody else. "Nothing could be further from the truth. I am a very lucky and that is why I put so much into what I do, and why I care so much about it and why sometimes my enthusiasm just goes awry."
And that he was method-acting at the time, trying to convey the intense madness of his character:
"I completely mixed up fact and fiction, I'm half John Connor, I'm half Christian there."
Bale went on to say that things between he and Hurlbut are "completely resolved," and he's very pleased with the result of the work rendered by the DOP.
