Christian theocrats believe they have superior rights than others
Camp Pendleton in California is one of the biggeest U.S. Marines military bases in the U.S. It is also a place recently where former marines put up a large 12 foot tall Christian cross on the top of a hill at the base. This type of act is unfortunately, very, very common. Christian right-wingers have as much a sense of religious entitlement in the U.S., as Islamic wahhabis have in Saudi Arabia. I was in the military and I am an atheist. Because I was a former member of the military does not give me the right to put up an atheist sign on the top of a hill in an army base.
I do not believe I have superior rights as an atheist, over other groups, to use the government to promote my religon. I don't believe that I can put up atheist signs on courthouse lawns, as theocrat and former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore, did with a 10 Commandments display on the Alabama Supreme Court lawn.
The fact is that theocrats who wish to push their religion on governmental property, are the same type of people who oppose the rights of Muslims to build churches in Tennessee or Islamic Centers in New York City. They are the same type of people who dismiss the vandalism of atheist billboards throughtout the U.S. They believe that not only was the U.S. founded by this deity (or his surrogates) but that all other groups are 3rd or 4th class citizens. When called on their selfishness, they scream persecution.
On talk radio a woman bashed atheists for not wanting religious symbols on governmental property because she stated that deep down atheists know there is a god and atheists don't want to accept that "fact". I don't believe any stupider thing has ever been said by a theist when referring to atheists. This gross ignorance of atheists and why they don't believe in a god is a sign of not only great ignorance but unchecked egoticism on the part of Christian right-wingers in that anyone who doesn't agree with their religion must be in denial.
