Cinemark Movie Theatres Rewarding Good Behavior

A Pearland Tx. school bus driver has learned the secret on getting elementary children to behave on the bus. Instead of constantly threatening them with punishment, she began to reward their good behavior. A weekly contest, with only three rules. Don't hit anybody, don't scream, and whatever you do, don't stand up. The children were rewarded with a certificate and a prize from a treasure box. It worked. It worked so well that the driver, Julianne Bruce, decided that on the last day of school they would have a "Super Turbo Mega Award".  She wanted to send each of them to the movies, but on a bus drivers salary ($800 per month) it was impossible. So, she wrote a letter to Cinemark Theatres and explained about the contest, and how good the kids had been, and even shared their school bus motto "Two Cheeks on a Seat".  They responded immediately, with only one question "How many children do you need tickets for? " .  "It just made me cry." Julianne said. "I didn't know how I was going to come through for these kids, and they (Cinemark) made it happen. I am so grateful for their generosity.".  Cinemark donated 26 tickets to the children of bus 210. In the scheme of things it was a small gesture, but to the kids it was a big as a Transformer.

I am so proud of my daughter. I have been in school bus transportation for over 30 years and I know how she feels about the children she transports and their safety. She loves "her kids". Parents are very fortunate to have her as their driver. She has a great personality and she has figured out fun things to make it fun for the kids while keeping them safe. School bus drivers all to often are the forgotten heros for our children. How many of you can get behind the wheel of a 40 foot bus with as many as 84 kids on it and transport them safely All Year, year after year. It takes a damn good driver to do that. Every parent should thank their driver when they deliver their most precious child safely home to them every day. Way to go Julianne, you have found the secret to not only being a fun bus driver for the kids but better than that a Safe Bus Driver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
