Another month, another country music award show. The Country Music Television Awards aired June 16, 2009. The award show is considered a younger, hipper version of the Academy of Country Music Awards and the Country Music Association Awards.

The 2009 CMT Awards featured Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, and Toby Keith, unlike the CMAs and ACMs, which featured Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, and Toby Keith (Oh wait...)

The CMTs pattern themselves after the MTV Music Awards, and they tried to hip it up by featuring non-country performers such as Def Leppard and T-Pain.

In the Eastern and Central time zones fans were able to vote for Video of the Year at CMT.com and via text message.
