CNBC Squawk On The Street Video: Mark Haines Sexist Comment To Co-anchor Erin Burnett

Causal sexism is alive and well on CNBC. The incident occurred on CNBC's flagship show Squawk on The Street between anchors Mark Haines and Erin Burnett.

The segment showed the blown umpire call during the game between the Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Indians - the blown call prevented Tigers' pitcher Armando Galarraga from getting picking up a rare perfect game.

Erin Burnett made the comment that she appreciated that the umpire apologized to Galarraga and the "it was a more memorable moment for its failure than its success, maybe a little sentimental?"

Mark Haines, clearly appalled replied to Burnett "See this is why women are not in charge of sports."

Erin Burnett then said "Oh My.....(speechless)"

Erin Burnett was named by Maxim magazine as one of the 10 hottest TV anchors. But Erin Burnett is no slouch she has the credentials to be in that anchor chair on CNBC.

Burnett began her career in 1998 as a financial analyst for Goldman Sachs in their investment banking division, where she worked on mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance.[citation needed]

While working as an investment-banking analyst, Burnett was offered a position at CNN as a writer and booker for CNN's Moneyline with Stuart Varney, Willow Bay, and Lou Dobbs.[citation needed]

From CNN, she moved to Citigroup, where she served as vice president for Citigroup/CitiMedia, and was responsible for all anchoring of the Citigroup online financial news network.
