Coachella 2008
The music-festival season is underway, so we're taking a look at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (albeit from afar). This year's event in Indio, California, features three days of solid music, with performances ranging from Goldfrapp's strip-tese electronica to Gogol Bordello's gypsy-punk to Prince's nasty ol' funk. Also present are blasts from the past Kraftwerk and Love & Rockets... so alive. Check out the entire lineup here.
Coachella began in 1999 (whose linup included Jurassic 5; I'm a fan), though it didn't really make any monye. Coachella became an annual event in 2001, and has a solid history of bringing in popular acts both new and reunited.

At the artist's camp (for the Steampunk Treehouse) it's happy hour all the time...

I went to Coachella to chaperone my 17 y.o. daughter and her friend, and had never heard of most of the bands there. I really got into the Raconteurs music-- not classic rock, but definitely Rock! Reminded me of Bob Seger's claim that "rock and roll will never die".

The Raconteurs (and Jack White's other band, The White Stripes) are very much my style as well. Anything blues-based, and I'm happy.

I adore Portishead and Goldfrapp. Had no idea that Love and Rockets still existed; I probably have one of their albums on cassette somewhere.
