Conan O'Brien Posts Ad Selling The Tonight Show On LA Craigslist
Last night on "The Tonight Show," Conan O'Brien once again alluded to the late night TV drama that has been surrounding the NBC network this past week. Now the final decision has been made for Jay Leno to return with a time slot that would bump back O'Brien's show by half and hour, and subsequently Jimmy Fallon's show.
O'Brien made light of the situation by posting an ad on Craigslist to sell "The Tonight Show." He shared the post with his audience, knowing it would probably stir up some more controversy and talks amongst the networks and fans.
On Thursday’s “Tonight Show,” Conan O’Brien tried to make a little cash off his talk show – while he still has the show, that is. “I’m not even sure that I have the authority to do this, but while I still can, I’ve decided to sell ‘The Tonight Show’ on Craigslist,” Conan said, showing an actual listing from the online classifieds Web Site. “I’m not sure exactly how this works, but while I’m here, this feels like the thing to do. This is a real ad that we’re putting on Craigslist.”
The LA Craigslist ad features the title: "Barely-Used Late Night Talk Show - Make Me An Offer." The ad goes on to detail information for potential buyers: "measures 100' X 32' - plenty of room for a futon!" ..."Designed for 11:35 but can be easily moved," and "Band can be sold separately." O'Brien also claims he is willing to trade for Coldplay tickets in the Craigslist ad.
O'Brien's add has got fans riled up even more now, especially online where people are picking sides by showing support for either "Team Leno" or "Team Conan." Twitter has been a popular platform for discussions about the late night controversy, and it will likely continue to be abuzz with #TeamConan in the following weeks. It remains unknown where O'Brien will be heading next, but rumours are that he may find a new home at the FOX network during their late nigth time slots.
