Corey Haim, star of The Lost Boys (1987) and reprising his role in the Lost Boys: The Tribe (2008)sequel was found dead of an apparent accidental overdose in his Burbank, California home today.

Corey Haim's Rise and Fall

Haim was born December 23, 1971 in Toronto but first came to international attention in the late 80s when Haim and his co-star Corey Feldman were an extremely popular duo in the entertainment industry due to the success of Lost Boys.

Capitalizing on their fame, both Coreys started to make a slew of films to feed their growing fan base. These films - Dream a Little Dream (1989), Watchers (1988) and License to Drive (1988) did not match Lost Boys box office or reviews. Kiefer Sutherland, also in Lost Boys, was  the only cast member to enjoy a measure of success with Young Guns and Young Guns 2 and more recently his fan favourite 24.

Corey Haim's Video & TV Appearances

After Haim's fall from grace both actors began a downward spiral of drugs and hard living that extended into the 90s During which he appeared as a guest in TV episodes, sequels and straight-to-video productions: Busted Demolition University, Never Too Late, Fever Lake, Snowboard Academy, Shooter on the Side Life 101,Dream a Little Dream 2, Fast Getaway II, Last Resort, Anything for Love, Double Switch, Blown Away, The Double 0 Kid, Oh, What a Night, Dream Machine, Fast Getaway, Prayer of the Rollerboys, Universal Groove, The Back Lot Murders and Without Malice.

Corey Haim & Corey Feldman in The Two Coreys

Both Coreys stayed in the headlines during these years when their antics hit the front page for arrests, assaults and drug possession. Feldman cleaned up his act and married, reconciling with Haim after a split. Feldman tried to set Haim on the straight and narrow, much to the disapproval of Feldman's wife.

The Two Coreys was developed to bring both actors back into the limelight. Though the reality show was short lived, it did revive their careers and provide a lead in for the Lost Boys: The Tribe.

Corey Haim in Lost Boys: The Tribe

Haim began filming Lost Boys: The Tribe in Vancouver and Australia only to see his role reduced dramatically compared to being a featured star in the original Lost Boys film in  the 1987.

Haim's vampire role was minor and rumours had it that he wanted more screen time. Haim was signed to the movie after many publicized delays and indecision, leaving his co-star Corey Feldman.

Corey Haim's Last 2 Years

Haim did find some work after the Lost Boys sequel flopped, including: Crank: High Voltage, Shark City and the following films still in production: Decisions, American Sunset, New Terminal Hotel, A Detour in Life, The Science of Cool, The Throwaways, Ratred 3D, and The Dead Sea.

Unlike his friend and costar Corey Feldman, Corey Haim did find fame of a sort, perhaps long gone and too hard to recapture in reality.  He was too young to leave, too old in Hollywood.
