Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain's daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, now 17, has been appointed to new legal guardianship.  The guardians appointed by the court are Wendy O'Connor and Kimberly Dawn, Kurt Cobain's mother and sister.

This gaurdianship was established because of a long period of unstable conduct by Courtney Love.  It is not unusual for parents of this nature to loose guardianship if they are seen as unfit to take care of their children.

Frances Bean Cobain has stated that she would prefer to live her grandmother.

This guardianship is officially temporary until Feberuary 10th when the matter will be legally solidified.

TMZ just spoke with Courtney's friend and lawyer, Keith Fink, who says, "Courtney wants to say she loves her daughter and she's the most important thing in her life." As for the guardianship, Fink says Courtney knows her grandma will take care of Frances Bean.

Wendy Cobain has been the guardian of Frances Bean Cobain before.  In 2003 she was appointed custody of Frances becasue Courtney was using drugs infront of her daughter who was 11 at the time.  After two years of courtroom battles, Courtney proved she was fit to be a mother and won costody of her daughter back.
