Craigslist Rakes It In With Adult Services Ads

Craigslist is raking in the big bucks! We're talking an estimated $122 million in 2010, with $36 million coming from Adult Services ads. Not only is Craigslist in the adult services business, but business is very, very good. In fact, adult services ads bring Craigslist even more money than New York City real estate ads.

Adult services ads, if you're pretending not to know, are basically escort and prostitution ads that the poster pays to post. So Craigslist makes ten bucks per ad. There are, as you are pretending not to have seen, a lot of adult services ads.

"Craigslist claims to have a ‘relatively non-commercial nature, public service mission and non-corporate culture,' but in reality it turns so much profit that it's a gold mine for its owners," said Peter M. Zollman, founder of the AIM Group. "Per employee, it generates more than $4 million in revenue and profits of $2.9 million to $3.2 million -- staggering numbers any way you count.

Craigslist is also making a killing on human trafficking.  Wonder how they sleep at night.

Craigslist has not given any indication that they are outraged or disturbed that their site is the primary way children are bought in US...

..officials of organizations that oppose human trafficking say the site remains the biggest online hub for selling women against their will."                   NY TIMES

Sex Trafficking Must End

It makes me sick that Craigslist still has not done anything about the fact that traffickers are also raking in profits from this.  It's all about cash.  I have stopped using Craigslist for this reason.Michelle
