His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the renowned Buddhist spiritual and political leader of the Tibetan people, will headline the "Vancouver Peace Summit: Nobel Laureates in Dialogue" this September in Vancouver, Canada.

The summit, which is scheduled to run from September 26-29, 2009, will be dedicated to exploring "issues confronting humanity, the search for peace, the search for happiness".

The Dalai Lama will be joined by other well-known activists and laureates including Bishop Desmond Tutu, Dr. Wangari Maathai, Mary Robinson, and Eckhart Tolle.

Through "discussion-based events", the Vancouver Peace Summit will focus "on the themes of peace, education, interfaith harmony, women and peace-building and youth".

Most of the events will be open to the public and tickets are expected to go on sale in late May or early June.

The last time the Dalai Lama visited Vancouver 30,000 tickets sold out in just a few hours.
