Amidst protest and the political garrison of the UK gay rights movement, Bounty Killa will be performing live in the United Kingdom on Sunday.
The man known in reggae fraternity as the “Poor People’s Governor”, will take the stage at the renowned Stratford Rex in East London, after London’s Metro Police gave approval for the concert staging.
This decision has angered the members of the London Gay community including Murder Music Campaign’s chief head hunter Peter Tatchell.
Mr. Tatchell was instrumental in bringing together various concerned groups to devise the Reggae Compassionate Act (RCA), an agreement in which Jamaica artists and music industry pledged to discontinue the homophobia and not to perform the songs.
Among those joining Outrage! were in Black Gay Men’s Advisory Group in London; Jamaican gay rights movement, J-Flag: and the Caribbean-wide C-Flag coalition of black gay and straight human rights organisations.
Bounty Killer had refused to sign the agreement which was used to strategically ambush targeted members of the Reggae Fraternity into submitting to give up their rights to express their view on Gay and Lesbian relationships.
Bounty Killer became known in USA and in Europe in the 1990’s and ended up with several combinations with big artists like Masta Killa, The Fugees, Wyclef Jean, Mobb Deep, Capone-N-Noreaga, No Doubt and AZ.
