Dancing With the Stars Season 9, Week 2: DWTS Recap & Video
The second week of competition on “Dancing with the Stars” brought a surprise, judge Len Goodman was absent and temporarily replaced by Baz Luhrmann, the director of films such as "Romeo & Juliet" and “Moulin Rouge.”
So what did Baz Luhrmann and the other DWTS judges think of the performances of Monday night's show.

Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough Performed a high-energy jive dance. Luhrmann questioned the chemistry between the dancers.
Score: 20
Natalie Coughlin and Alex Mazo Performed a quick step. Carie Ann complemented the duo while Bruno said Natalie needed to relax.
Score: 21
Chuck Liddell and Anna Trebunskaya Performed a tango. The judges said Liddell was a little bit too intense but remained a contender.

Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas Jr. Performed a jive while wearing red and white polka dot costumes. Judges noted that Hart has improved, but still needs to work on her footwork.

Michael Irvin and Anna Demidova Performed a quick step. Judges noticed a huge improvement in Irvin's performance and rewarded him with a solid score.

Debi Mazar and Maksim Chmerkovskiy Performed a tango. Judges praised her theatrics, but said she needed to work on her arm movements.

Louie Vito and Chelsie Hightower Performed a jive. Baz loved the energy while other judges felt the snowboarder might have gone overboard.

Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff Performed a Muppet-inspired dance. Judges raved about the performance, giving it rave reviews.
Score: 27 (tied for 1st place)
Kelly Osbourne and Louis van Amstel Performed a tango. Judges noted a few missteps, a letdown from last week's solid performance.

Kathy Ireland and Tony Dovolani Performed a quick step. Judges said the dancers needed to be more engaged and energetic.
Score: 18 (tied for last place)
Mark Dacascos and Lacey Schwimmer Performed a quick step. Dacascos fell early, but made a quick recovery, something the judges admired.
Score: 21
Mya and Dmitry Chaplin Performed a jive. Judges raved about the dance, with one judge comparing Mya to Josephine Baker.
Score: 27 (tied for 1st place)
Tom Delay and Cheryl Burke DeLay nearly fell over when Burke jumped into. Judges admired the effort but still noted DeLay's obvious lack of technique.
Score: 18
Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson Performed a jive. Dressed is Austin Powers-esque velour suit, judged complemented the 51-year-old's performance and athleticism.
