'Danger Girl' Film Cast: Jovovich, Vergara, Beckinsdale?
Milla Jovovich, Kate Beckinsdale, Sofia Vergara to Headline Danger Girl Cast? Not So Fast
The film version of Danger Girl is a go. According to Latino Review, the latest graphic-novel-turned-film was tipped to star Kate Beckinsdale, Milla Jovovich and Sofia Vergara as the deadly and beautiful spies who report to a guy who really looks like Sean Connery. However, reps for the Beckinsdale, Jovovich and Vergara said that their clients had not been approached by BenderSpink, the production company that holds the rights to Danger Girl.
Danger Girl is a comic series by y J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell, is a response to the classic James Bond movies; in DG, the Bond Girls are the stars. Their boss (sort of a Charlie figure) was purposely drawn to resemble a pony-tailed Sean Connery, and their sometimes-ally Johnny Barracuda is meant to resemble cult star Bruce Campbell.
No word on if the real Connery and Campbell have been approached.
While Milla Jovovich has the Resident Evil series behind her, and Kate Beckinsdale has Underworld, Sofia Vergara has a lack of onscreen ass-kicking cred. At least so far. Remember, Woody Harrelson was the guy from Cheers before he did Natural Born Killers.
The three rumored leads would indeed look good in bikinis, but it's fairly on-the-nose casting. What about Lost's Elizabeth Mitchell? How about The Matrix' Carrie-Anne Moss? While the Danger Girls look youngish (under 45, at any rate) surely there's a way to write a part for a certain Helen Mirren.
