Daniel Bark Plans to Plead Not Guilty to Death of Alexis Cohen
Daniel Bark, the man responsible for the hit and run accident that killed former American Idol contestant Alexis Cohen, is planning to plead 'not guilty' to charges of vehicular homicide, aggravated manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident, and evading police, by implying that Alexis may have been drunk herself when she was hit.
Attorney Daniel Glassman tells E! News Cohen may have been boozing it up right before she was killed.
"So far, the information that's been provided by the prosecutor's office has been all one-sided in respect to the allegations against my client," Glassman says. "There's no specifics on witnesses, where the victim was found, the nature of the impact of the car…and we don't know what the victim's physical condition was before the accident so it's a little premature to discuss."
Bark hit a parked car and then Cohen as he tried to evade police who were trying to apprehend him. Glassman wants to look at what the lighting was like when the accident happened and if Cohen was drunk and may have stepped in front of the car herself.
Bark had a previous DUI from 2004, and he is currently being held in Ocean County Jail on suicide watch on $250,000 bail. If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in jail.
