'Dark Knight' Shooter James Holmes Wonders Why He's Arrested
James Holmes, the suspected shooter in last week's movie theater massacre, has told his Colorado jailers he doesn't know why he's locked behind bars.
James Holmes, who has been suspected of killing 12 people during the screening of the latest Batman film ”The Dark Knight Rises,” has reportedly claimed that he has no idea why he ended up in prison. According to a jail worker, Holmes has said that he ‘doesn’t know why he is in jail’
“He asked, ‘Why am I here?” the New York Daily News quoted the jail worker, as saying.
According to the paper, the worker also claimed that Holmes was also complaining of a stomach ache caused by jail food.
But no one at the Arapahoe County Detention Center is buying Holmes' story, a lockup worker told the News. The jailers who come in contact with Holmes, who is sequestered from other inmates, believe he's faking amnesia.
Since the 24-year-old PhD dropout was accused of killing 12 theatergoers and wounding 58 at a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" last Friday, the media has lavished attention on Holmes' odd behavior.
The suspect appeared in court on Monday with brightly dyed orange hair and made peculiar facial expressions. At times his eyes bulged and he often appeared tired.
While psychology professionals are on the fence about the accused murderer's mental state, people working in the jail aren't buying his act. The source added:
“He needs to save his act for the jury because no one here is buying it. Everyone is convinced he is faking it.”
If Holmes truly doesn't recall why he's there, he's got a lot of time to think about it. Due to the nature of his violent crime and the possibility of other inmates attacking him, the suspect is under 23-hour lock down.
