Indian bowlers wrapped the Australian innings on 380 with R Ashwin claiming seven wickets from the innings, in the opening session of play on Day 2 of the Chennai Test. This after Michael Clarke scored 130 runs.
The hosts were made to struggle a bit initially, as the day began. Skipper Clarke - on an overnight score of 103 - led the resistance with Peter Siddle for company. He looked at ease even when he stepped out to meet Ashwin.
Ashwin was used to attack from the start and though he bowled a tight line, success eluded him and his team for over an hour and a hald. Clarke played him and Ravindra Jadeja with a definite degree of confidence and stepped out occasionally despite the odd-ball's bounce.
Peter Siddle on the other end had two close calls, one of which went off his outside edge only to fall short of Virender Sehwag at first slip. While it looked like he eventually would be the first in the pair to cave in, it was Clarke and a rare mis-timed aggression against Jadeja that finally fell well within the boundary rope to signal an end to his innings.
Siddle followed Clarke back in the next over - becoming Harbhajan Singh's first success of the innings - while the final wicket was claimed by Ashwin who was finally rewarded with another after the session had been extended by half an hour.
