Is Demi Lovato Cutting Herself? Is the Pressure Too Much?

Rumours are flying today that teen actress and singer Demi Lovato is cutting herself; has the pressure of fame gotten to be too much for this young star?
Pictures have surfaced of Lovato with what look like wounds on her wrist that are similar to the ones that people develop when they self-harm by cutting themselves.
On her twitter page, posted at about 10:45 am PDT, Demi wrote:
Do you ever have one of those days where you just want to go back to bed and hide under the covers?
She was first hit with these rumours after Miley Cyrus's birthday party last October, and she was photographed there with the same marks.
A representative for Lovato said, “Demi was wearing gummy bracelets just prior to her appearance on the red carpet and, because of how tight they were, they left indentations on her wrist.”
It seems unlikely that this young fresh-faced starlet is actually cutting herself, but hopefully she can get all the help she requires if she needs it.

there's a lot of people cutting themselves... usually because the stress and pain they feel inside is too much to handle. there's no way to fix it. you feel out of control of it. so you cut yourself to have a pain you can "control" and see. it's a way of showing the inside pain on the outside. i know all about it.

thanks for posting this story, though i think it could use some more information about the self cutting act that is ... please understand i'm looking for the right unoffensive words... kind and empathetic. someone cutting themselves doesn't make them "sick" or "defective." when someone like myself hears the phrase "getting the help she requires," it reminds me of family members who refused to accept, learn and communicate about/with me on the topic. it feels dismissive to me.
So, again, thanks for addressing it, but do take some time to add some impartial info about what leads to "self mutilation." there's tons of nonsense out there and as a person who has (and just recently) cut myself, i would like to see there being more empathy and compassion for such people and less "tabloiding." (i'm not calling your article a tabloid, just using a figure of speech... i don't even know who this girl is that the story is about - my interest is in the suffering of ANY person feeling the need to cut). i'm looking to spread fact based info, not fear/disgust-based info.

I really hope she's not cutting... but "indentations from how tight her jelly bracelets were"? I call BS, how could she have even gotten them on past her hand in the first place if they were that tight around her wrist?

i dont see the point of cutting your self ,come on. really,u can blame your self 4 all the problems of the world but remeber ha god will always be there even though it might not seem like it,but remeber to always forgive yourself even though it hurts,u might say oh that girl doesnt know wat shes talking about because she hasent experinced wat i have well........to tell u the things in your life can be very stressful and u should just tryb to help yourself get through it,and if u cant then u are not try as hard as u should.remeber to remeber who u r because god remebers u as a speck of dust.

I don't know if you've noticed, but she always wears braclets on her left wrist, or keeps her wrist tucked in so if there are scars there, you would hardly ever see them. The two times she was photographed with what looks like cuts were the only two times she's ever shown her wrist. Check out the galleries of pictures on her fansites; never does she expose her left wrist. While I'm not saying she is definitely cutting, I'm just trying to point out that she rarely exposes her left wrist; whether thats unconscious or by design is up for debate.

demi is NOT cutting herself. the marks on her wrist are from her braclets. she is way to smart to do that, don't believe everything you hear. -selena gomez. www.myspace.com/gomezselenaxo
