Demi Moore Twitter Hero: Star Stops Suicide Attempt with a Tweet

Demi Moore may be the first celebrity Twitter hero; her tweet activity may have stopped a suicide attempt. Last week the Kutchers made headlines over a silly TwitPic of Demi Moore's butt, now they are back in the Twitter news stream due to a more serious interaction with fans.

The super star Twitterer has a massive online following and apparently she follows what her fans tweet her way. When Demi Moore, known as mrskutcher on Twitter, received two tweets from the same person threatening suicide she felt compelled to respond.

She tweeted "hope you are joking" which got the attention of her other followers. Many of them contacted local police who investigated. Moore's compassionate retweet and show of concern may just have saved a life.

The actress is a popular Twitter poster, with over 380,000 users following her updates. Early this morning, Demi Moore, who goes by the Twitter name "mrskutcher", received this update from a Twitter user named "Sandiguy": "Getting a knife, a big one that is sharp. Going to cut my arm down the whole arm so it doesn't waste time".

Seconds later a second "tweet" came through from Sandiguy: "gbye ... gonna kill myself now."

Moore then "retweeted" the post, adding "hope you are joking".

She later posted that: "Everyone I was very torn about responding or retweeting that woman's post but felt uncomfortable just letting it go"

ABC reports that "Other users quickly sprung to action, flooding the San Jose Police Department with calls reporting the threat."
