I want the job to write his script.

The Lone Ranger was a former soldier from the Union army. Out of work and out or luck, he was stranded in the Wild West. He ambled into a small town called Centerville Texas where there was a cowboy bar and a “Western wear” store. First, “Lone” went to the bar to get some grub. He didn’t have much money and couldn’t afford a drink, so he ordered a cheese sandwich and a glass of water.

A local regular felt sorry for the “nice guy” who was wearing part of his old uniform from the war.

LOCAL JUDGE: “You’re lost in these parts, arentcha,” he asked Lone?

LONE: “Yes, sir, and I am looking for work.”

LOCAL JUDGE: “I am Judge Martin, but I am not doin much judg’n cause there ain’t no law enforcement. You want to be a law enforcer?

LONE: That would be a fine opportunity. Would there be a new outfit involved?

JUDGE: Why sure, a new outfit and title and a badge. You will be the Ranger from these parts.

LONE: I will be the Lone Ranger and I will pick out a nice outfit from the Western wear store I saw on the way into town.

JUDGE: Eat up “marshall.”

CROWD: Laughing

LONE finishes his cheese sandwich and heads to western wear. Outside, he sees an Injun with a nice spotted horse.

LONE: How Injun. Nice horse. What’s he called?

TONTO: Scout

LONE: No, I didn’t ask what you do, I want to know the name of your horse.

TONTO: Scout

LONE: It looks like a painted horse to me. I would call it paint. I just got a new job being Ranger. I need a scout. You want to be a scout.

TONTO: Horse not for sale.

That’s how it started.

Johnny Depp wants Tonto to boss around the Lone Ranger

Maybe they'll call it "Tonto's Revenge"?

Actor Johnny Depp, who is developing the movie version of “The Lone Ranger” with his “Pirates of the Caribbean” director Gore Verbinski, wants someone other than the guy wearing a white hat calling the shots.

"I remember watching it as a kid, with Jay Silverheels and Clayton Moore, and going: 'Why is the f***ing Lone Ranger telling Tonto what to do?'" Depp told Entertainment Weekly about the durable black & white Western TV series that ran in reruns well through the 70s.

"I liked Tonto, even at that tender age, and knew Tonto was getting the unpleasant end of the stick here.”

Tonto’s Horse Coolant
The Lone Ranger rides again

The Lone Ranger and Tonto walked into a bar and sat down to drink a beer. After a few minutes, a big tall cowboy walked in and said, “Who owns the big white horse outside?”

The Lone Ranger stood up, hitched his gun belt, and said, “I do - Why?”
The cowboy looked at the Lone Ranger and said, “I just thought you’d like to know that your horse is about dead outside!”

The Lone Ranger and Tonto rushed outside and sure enough Silver was ready to die from heat exhaustion. The Lone Ranger got the horse water and soon Silver was starting to feel a little better.

The Lone Ranger turned to Tonto and said, “Tonto, I want you to run around Silver and see if you can create enough of a breeze to make him start to feel better.”

Tonto said, “Sure, Kemosabe” and took off running circles around Silver.
Not able to do anything else but wait, the Lone Ranger returned to the bar to finish his drink.

A few minutes later, another cowboy struts into the bar and asks, “Who owns that big white horse outside?”
The Lone Ranger stands again, and claims, “I do - what’s wrong with him this time?”

The cowboy looks him in the eye and says, “Nothin’, but you left your Injun running.”

Actually, Jim, the Lone Ranger was the lone survivor of six Texas Rangers ambushed by the Butch Cavendish gang.

A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty "Hi Yo Silver!" The Lone Ranger. "Hi Yo Silver, away!" With his faithful Indian companion Tonto, the daring and resourceful masked rider of the plains, led the fight for law and order in the early west. Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear. The Lone Ranger rides again!

I apologize for insulting Native Americans by repeating the joke, but, I think that Johnny Depp is intent on changing the course of history with a different statement. We'll see.
