Homework, Exams, and studying in general, these should be the top three priorities of any student with the desire to succeed.  But why is it that day after day students are always scrambling to finish their assignments one hour before its due or cramming one hour before a test. The reason: Procrastination, the culprit: Our Inner selves. We are all at a constant battle against our inner selves; this image of ourselves reflects everything we deem as fun, everything we want, and everything we desire. Take for example the Surrey SFU open lab, the homework for math courses are typically due on Thursdays and on that day the entire room would be packed by math students, finishing, comparing and some even just starting to do their homework. We all have priorities and for me it went as follows: Homework, Study, Essay, Warcraft, and Anime. This is where the fight begins, our inner selves would complain about the order of our priorities, and if it was to win we would find that our list has been re-ordered, instead of doing homework we are now playing games or watching anime. As you walk down the halls of SFU you would notice tons of students staring at their laptops, no, they are not thinking they are watching. To those of us who are easily distracted and subdued the voices of our inner selves is too strong to ignore and we begin to lose focus, all of a sudden you find yourself thinking that the derivative of f(x) is Warcraft. This is a common problem for all students, studying, homework they are just too boring which is why we tend to push them aside and move on to much more pleasurable and entertaining activities. As for myself, I am completely dominated by my inner self, I was convinced to watch anime until midnight claiming that I would be able to finish this assignment in half an hour…and yet here I am awake at 4 in the morning.

Yeah, media these days is so flashy and appealing. Games explain themselves, they are fun and they instantly gratify your actions.

People think a little bit of this and a little bit of that wont, hurt. If you dont watch it, you can make bad substitutions and get off on a tangent. Then, you can be integrating one giant mess taking up much more time than you planned.
