Diablo 3: What We Know So Far
Well, Blizzard finally announced Diablo 3, sequel to some of the best-selling games of all time. While rumours surrounded this new iteration, whether it would be an action-adventure game, turn into a Massively Multiplayer Online RPG, Blizzard has decided to stick with its roots.
There will only be five character classes, though there will be female and male models for each. Only the Barbarian and the Witch Doctor have been revealed so far, with very little known about the other three.
A release date has not been announced yet.
So the rumours were right. Blizzard have just announced Diablo 3 at their World Wide Invitational event in Paris. A 10 minute demo was shown and judging by the whooping and hollering around me - very un-French - the fans are going to love this. The main press conference starts shortly and I've got some interviews planned for tomorrow (Sunday). So if you have any questions for Blizzard stick them below and I'll see if I can get some answers.
With the announcement of Diablo III fans have exploded in a myriad of emotions getting what they much awaited. The gameplay video and all these new technologies and mechanics added to the game have impacted in a good way the opinion of old school Diablo II players.
However, from what I could read while in Paris during and after the Diablo III panels, some fans are against the color design. Some feedback says it looks too Warcraft III-ish (colorful and cartoonish), and that it should have a color palette that portrays better the dark and gothic essence of what was Diablo II.
What I (and plenty of others) speculated might happen came to pass at approximately 12:18 p.m. on June 28th at the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational in Paris, France, where Blizzard finally confirmed that yes, Diablo 3 is in the works, eight prolonged years after Diablo 2, and over a decade after the original gave oceans of relentless finger-tappers a conduit for their compulsion.
There's a handy guide of all the information released so far here at shacknews:
With Blizzard's Saturday announcement of Diablo 3 came a veritable whirlwind of details in the form of developer interviews, panels, and gameplay demonstrations. After becoming frustrated with the lack of consolidation, I've compiled a simple bullet-point list of all the known features, changes and additions to the series in the new sequel.
Considering the wealth of knowledge, I'm sure I've missed a thing or two. Feel free to use this as an opportunity to share tidbits of information, and to speculate on all things unknown.
