Friday's Edition of Oprah Will Tell The Story of Diane Schuler, the Woman Who Died in a Horrific Car Crash That Took Several Lives. One Question That Lingers in Her Husband's Mind: Was Diane Schuler Drunk When Her Car Crashed

The story of Diane Schuler will be featured on Friday's edition of the Oprah Winfrey Show. On July 26, 2009, Diane Schuler was killed in a car crash that took the lives of eight people, including her two-year-old daughter and three young nieces.

At the time of the Diane Schuler car accident, her body was found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.19, more than twice the legal limit. Traces of marijuana were also found in her system. A vodka bottle was found in the vehicle after the crash.

Diane Schuler's husband, Daniel Schuler, insists a mistake was made and his wife was not under the influence at the time of the crash. He believes his wife may have suffered from stroke-like symptoms when the incident happened, and the high alcohol content in her blood was caused by a fire caused by the crash.

Was Diane Schuler Really Drunk?

In September, lawyer Dominic Barbera asked authorities to exhume the body of Diane Schuler to prove she wasn't drunk at the time of the accident.

"I read from the medical autopsy report that there was charring of the body because there was a fire," Barbera told CNN. "And I found -- my doctors found numerous cases where you can actually have sugar in the blood turn into alcohol."

Previous reports seemed to indicate that Diane Schuler had no history of drinking alcohol. One story quotes a police officer saying that they had interviewed more than 50 friends and family, and none of them had ever recalled seeing Diane Schuler drunk.

In Friday's Oprah episode, Daniel Schuler, a private eye and a toxicologist will talk about the Diane Schuler story, presumably to reveal new details about the case.
