Dick Clark Dead: American Bandstand Host Dead

Dick Clark died on April 18, 2012. The venerable host of American Bandstand died of a massive heart attack Wednesday.

During his lengthy career, Clark endured endless jokes about his youthful appearance. The host perpetually looked younger than he actually was. Clark first hosted AMerican Bandstand in 1952 and was the face of the show well into the 1980s.

Clark also earned fame for his New Year's Rockin' Eve program which debuted on 1972.

In recent years, Clark had slowed down after suffering a stroke.

Clark was 82.
