Digital DJ's vs The Vinyl Purist
The mp3 revolution has brought many changes to how we all now listen to music, and fierce debates among veteran DJ’s continue constantly bringing up the question; which is better to spin on DJ Equipment?
At the forefront of the big debate is the sound quality. Many would argue that mp3 is a more clear sound, whilst others like the warm authentic sound that vinyl has brought to the purists ears. Mp3 being so readily available has taken the industry by storm and for many the days of carry huge Record Boxes around with them are a thing of the past. Gone also are the days where that rare, hard to find white label or one off B-Side mix where impossible to find, with mp3, unreleased tracks are easy to obtain, and more and more DJ’s are turning to Digital DJ Equipment.
Nevertheless jocks across the world will proclaim they are authentic DJ's playing their prized possesions on their DJ Turntables. Topics up for discussion between the purists and the digital dj's will continue no doubt. Many purist's would argue that with Turntables you can't cheat, there is no auto-mix functions, and bpm counters are against purist law who mix by ear only. On the flipside the digital dj's would say there is a lack of creativity available to them by using traditional DJ methods.
The jury would appear to still be undecided, but what cannot be ignored is the huge advance's in technology we have seen in DJ Equipment over the last 10 years.
