According to Variety, the industry news leader, Alice in Wonderland is estimated to gross $30 million TODAY. It would be a record for this time of the year if it turns out to be true. 2007's 300 currently holds the record with $28.1 million. That movie opened with $70.9 million. However, since Alice in Wonderland is a PG-rated family film it'll have an increase on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. So, expect an opening of $100 million or more.

Directed by Tim Burton and starring newcomer Mia Wasikowska, it tells the tale of Alice's return to Wonderland to defeat the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter). Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, and Crispin Glover co-star.
