Inspired by the runaway success of the NowPublic Oil-O-Meter, I thought we might also benefit from turning our celebrified attention to the ever-crazy and arrest-prone world of the notorious Earl Simmons, aka rapper DMX.

Let's run down the recent past, shall we? It's a pretty impressive list, by any rapper's standards.

WHEN: July 19, 2008
WHERE: Phoenix, Arizona
WHAT: Medical identity theft

Earl Simmons a.k.a. DMX — a rap artist who seems to run afoul of the law frequently — was arrested in a Phoenix mall on Saturday for identity theft.

Apparently, DMX used the name Troy Jones when seeking medical care for pneumonia, according to KNXV-TV in Phoenix. He also used a social security number that didn't belong to him. Allegedly, DMX did this to get out of paying a $7500 bill.

WHEN: July 2, 2008
WHERE: Arizona

WHAT: Outstanding warrants

DMX was arrested in Arizona this morning, as he exited a flight from Fort Lauderdale. The rapper currently has two outstanding warrants in Phoenix. Three-peat!

WHEN: June 23, 2008

WHERE: Miami, Florida

WHAT: Invalid driver's license

DMX is set to break the record for most arrested rapper following his arrest last Monday (June 23) in Miami on a warrant for not having a valid driver’s license.

The 37-year-old rapper, born Early Simmons, was arrested by Miami Dade County Police at around 1:30 p.m. and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Institute.

WHAT: Drug and animal-cruelty

DMX was arrested on drug and animal-cruelty charges following an overnight raid on the rapper's house Friday, authorities said. [...]

The arrest and search warrants stemmed from indictments for felony drug possession and misdemeanor animal cruelty charges. He made an initial court appearance Friday where bail was sent at $7,500, said his local attorney, Cameron Morgan. Morgan said he expected bail to be posted quickly.

WHERE: Arizona
WHAT: Speeding

Rapper DMX was arrested Tuesday by Arizona police on a laundry list of motor vehicle charges stemming from a January incident where cameras caught him driving 114 mph on a local highway.

DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was charged with racing on a highway, reckless driving, two counts of endangerment and three counts of criminal speed and driving on a suspended license.

WHAT: Attempted robbery, criminal impersonation and criminal mischief

Hip hop star turned Hollywood actor DMX has been arrested on charges that he and another man tried to steal a car at JFK Airport in New York.

DMX, real name Earl Simmons, and Jackie Hudgins were arrested last night (June 24) after police interrupted a dispute between the two and another man whose car they allegedly tried to steal, authorities said.

The pair were arrested on charges of attempted robbery, criminal impersonation and criminal mischief.

I don't understand why celebrities who has more than enough money would do these illegal things. Eg. Winona Ryder stealing clothes. Are they doing it for the adrenaline rush or something? But yeah, DMX. 5 arrests already in 2008. I'm not his fan or anyhting, but I have to admit, I used to listen to his music and watch his movies.

Just another fool still living on the plantation. How do you not have a drivers license? Why would someone as famous as this try and steal a car? How in this day and age of technology, does one think they can escape the law from identity theft? DMX goes down as one of the stupidest people ever. I enjoy watching rappers get arrested for buying automatic weapons from federal agents, trying to skip court hearings, animal cruelty and I could go on but won't. Such a shame the black community has role models like these. Stupid is as stupid does.

I would like to comment about DMX because everyone is forgetting that we are all human and we all do things we shouldn't. Stop judging this man and he is not a role model, but a man trying to do what we all strive to do and that's survive. I have been a fan for many years and I won't stop NOW!! I was addicted to heroin for 15 years, but i am now clean and a productive citizen. No matter who you are we all need help. You can see this man is in alot of pain. This is for

lmao, you all have such strong opinions on this. He is most likely doing it because he can, or its fun. Honestly though if this man is getting caught with this many cases and getting a number of charges for each case and going through court this many times getting away with assault and drug possesion and assault with just a fine or max of 2 WEEKS, not months in jail on top of which he has a mass amount of money from rapping these fines are nothing to him, why not break the law as much as him? Have some fun because he gets away with like everything. Its caught on live camera in court him swearing and leaving, and still not month sentences or years in jail. This man gets away with a lot of shit and gets a lot of plea-bargans and fines that should be jail time. It also looks good on him as a rapper because he gets more fans that way like any other hip hop artist the harder they are the more they can say it in their rap without being dissed on for it or called out and have it legit to get more fans. Its definatly not for survival this rapper does have a lot of money regardless of all the large amounts of fines he does this for the fun. Hes still rich and has lots of fans but keep in mind that there are hip hop police that are constantly watching suspicious rappers and im sure that police and authorities are all keeping close eye on dmx for the simple fact that he is getting caught breaking the law a lot every year. Also keep in mind how these rappers are growing up, born in boltimore, he grew up in yonkers basically in crime city this is regular shit that happens day to day where hes from. Police in those areas have hard time getting most criminals and stopping crime, crime rates are high and so are death rates, so I guess you can say part of what he does is because of where he grew up im sure he did most of this kinds of activity from young growing up in yonkers wheather or not he got caught it most likely wouldnt be recorded until he became a celebrity. So I guess he does it becuase he can, hes used to it, used to seeing it, grew up around it. A lot of drug charges probably because he enjoys weed, cocaine and heroin and possible deals. Speeding is something everyone does and im sure highways were empty when he was 'racing' he is just the unlucky criminal to get caught, WE ALL SPEED especially on highways. It seems like most of the posts are from people who are clearly not fans though or older adults who are just digusted with the things this man does. Anyhow thats my thoughts and opinions on things give some of you with a lot of questions on your mind about this something to think about especially "why a celebrity would want to do this."
