Doctor Who: Alternate Series Four Themes

A new army of Shakespeare fans may storm Stratford Upon Avon as Dr. Who aka David Tennent scores a massive hit with critics playing Hamlet. Tennent is no fly-by-night TV or movie star deciding to hit the boards for a little credibility but a well established actor who has taken his fame as the good Dr. Who all in his stride as he returns to the theatre alongside that other space hero Star Trek's Patrick Stewart but not a Dalek, Cyberman, Vulcan or other alien lifeform in site.

He's alienated, adrift in an inimical universe, and subject to bouts of existential depression and to fits of larky lunacy. He gives the impression of knowing more than he can possibly tell to other creatures. From time to time, he exhibits a penchant for sporting student scarves and he exudes the air of a brilliantly batty, eternal undergraduate. Yes, it's clear that Doctor Who must have been a key role model for young Hamlet. Perhaps the Tardis touched down in Elsinore during the troubled Dane's formative years.

To be, or not to be: that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous Daleks, Or to take arms against a sea of alien invaders, And by opposing end them?

Is it possible to edit so that it says "Tennant" not "Tennent"?

David Tennant is my favorite Doctor! He's such a great actor, and in my 30+ years of following Doctor Who he is still my favorite!

I live in Swansea and several of the new Dr Who series have been filmed in various locations in and around Swansea. They filmed an episode a couple of years ago in Swansea University right outside my office. I had arrived at uni in the morning to be greeted by the sight of lots of trailers and people milling around. I spent a while chatting to the director and found out that an upcoming episode was being filmed in the uni (the first episode where we meet Martha in the hospital).

Throughout the morning I watched as various actors milled around in an array of bizarre costumes, and I also got to have a sneaky peek at some of the sets too. Then a car pulled up with darkened windows and I glimpsed David Tennant inside.

I loitered around for a while, watching him from afar with a couple of friends. When I finally plucked up the courage to go over and talk to him talk to him he was so lovely. He was all worried that he hadn't even done his hair yet bless him. I think he looked perfect! He also asked me lots of questions about my PhD and how that was going. I then asked if it would be ok to have a picture of him and he pulled me in for a shot with the two of us! I then managed to get one of my friend with him too before my camera battery died.

He was really friendly and down to earth and chatty too. What a lovely guy! It was just a shame I didn't have anything to get his autograph with as I dashed out my office too quickly to pick up a pen and paper in my excitement.

Every time Dr Who is being filmed in Swansea now I always try and get to the set in the hopes of meeting him again.

Admittedly you can't claim to know somebody from a two minute conversation while asking if it's ok to take their photo, but I bump into a lot of famous people in Londons west end and can honestly say that David Tennant couldn't have been nicer or more obliging. He was already at the height of his Dr.Who fame but came across as very humble and down to earth, which is more than can be said for many lesser so called celebrities. Good luck to David in the rest of his career, he seems to be a really nice guy and I'm sure he'll make a great Hamlet.

umm. found this pic on google images, set it to my desktop. to my horror, every time my machine booted up, the cursor would sit at the edge of david tennant's nostril. i figured the only thing to be done was save an spproximation of my experience, to show to my friends.
