Doctor Who star David Tennant to quit BBC hit

David Tennat has won great praise and local celebrity status in the UK for his time playing Doctor Who, a very old and succesful series in the UK in which the main actor constantly changes every few years. Tenant has announced he is leaving the show. Speculation will now start as to who the next Dr. Who will be.

DAVID Tennant has revealed he will quit hit sci-fi series Doctor Who at the end of next year.

The Scots-born star, 37, announced his decision last night at the National Television Awards in London.

The announcement came moments after Tennant scooped the Outstanding Drama Performance gong at the ceremony in the Royal Albert Hall.

Speaking through a video link-up, he told the audience and viewers: “When Doctor Who returns in 2010 it won’t be with me.

“Now don’t make me cry. The 2009 shows will be my last playing the Doctor. I love this show and if I don’t take a deep breath and move on now I never will and you will be wheeling me out of the Tardis in my bath chair.
