This Dragon still has a lot left in it.

There are many definitions when it comes to the word "Dragon." A fabled creature with wings, a scaly green serpent, a beast that feasts upon fair maidens and challenges the might of even the greatest of knights into battle. The "Dragon" has long been with us from ancient Chinese folklore, to medieval stories of grandeur. The "Dragon" has represented strength, courage, agility and has even been adopted as a wrestling name by such famous professional wrestlers as Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat and Yoshihiro Asai, better known to fans alike as Último Dragón. The "Dragon" has been played as both the villain or the hero. Hollywood has taken the "Dragon" and made it into a celebrity in it's own right and most recently Walt Disney came out with an animated series "American Dragon."

American Dragon first aired on the Disney Channel on January 21, 2005. The creation of Jeff Goode, an American television writer and playwright. The opening theme to the series was "The Chosen One", which pretty much characterized what the show was initially about.

Jacob "Jake" Luke Long is your typical mixed male teenager living in New York City. Jake is a descendant of a long line of dragons, his eight-year-old sister, Haley is a dragon and so is his grandfather, Luong Lao Shi. Jake's grandfather, is a Dragon Master who has dedicated himself to teaching Jake the way of the Dragon, and instructing Jake on how to use his magicial skills wisely and not fool heartedly like Jake tends too do. Jake's mother, Susan knows of Jake and Haley's secret, unfortunately Jake's father Jonathan has no clue that both his son, Jake and his daughter, Haley are both American Dragons. Jake has been assigned the responsibility of guardian and protector of magical creatures everywhere, and seeing it's New York city and with New York's reputation, you know there's going to be magicial creature everywhere. New York city is teeming with fairies, leprechauns, and other magicial creatures alike, including Fu Dog, who is both a guardian and a friend to Luong Lao Shi, and Jake Long. Oh yeah did I forget to mention? Fu Dog is a dog that speaks perfect English and has one sarcastic attitude for a dog. Through out the show Jake's grandfather attempts to train Jake on using his powers wisely, though being a teenager and hanging around his friends Trixie Carter and Arthur Spudinski, with whom he also skateboards, Jake tends to slack off and not be as dedicated to his responsibilities as his grandfather feels he should be. Trixie and Spud both later learn Jake's secret of being an American Dragon. Jake is also infatuated with a pretty blond teenaged girl named Rose. In the beginning neither Jake nor Rose know each others secrets, as Rose is a member of the Huntsclan. The Huntsclan being bitter enemies of the magicial clan, as the Huntsman is the leader of the Huntsclan and Rose is one of the Huntsman's many followers. Rose's duty is to rid the work of all magicial creatures, especially dragons. As the story unfolds, Jake and Rose grow closer to one and other, as they start out as friends, and slowly that friendship begins to blossom into a Romeo and Juliet love story, except with a tragedy ending.

American Dragon was the kind of show that had family values, great storylines and most of all a very powerful love story between Jake and Rose, something the majority of fans tuned into to watch, including myself in general. American Dragon took a turn for the worse when the Rose character was forced out of the series, in the very touching and tragic episode "Homecoming." The story behind why Rose was taken out of the show is still up in the air. Though in the series finale "The Hong Kong Longs", which aired Saturday September 1, 2007. Rose did come back, as she was living in Hong Kong and Jake just happened to bump into her while down there.

Walt Disney again created an animated master piece here with American Dragon, Jake Long, and alas as with all great master pieces that Disney creates, such as Kim Possible, (which Disney cancelled after just four seasons regardless of the out cry by KP fans everywhere) Disney went on a mission to try and slay the very dragon it created, leaving the American Dragon fans bewildered, upset and literally disappointed with Disney, not that it would be the first time that fans would be disappointed with a corporation like the Walt Disney Company.

Never let it be known that I'm not a fan of Walt Disney, as I myself grew up admiring Walt and his vision, a vision that seems to have gotten lost at the Walt Disney Company which seems to not relish on the fundamental principles that build Walt Disney, quality hand drawn animation and not digital computerized animation, and truly memorable stories and characters like that of American Dragon and Kim Possible.

The cancellation of American Dragon by Walt Disney hasn't stopped the devoted fans of American Dragon world wide from launching a major campaign to win the show back. The Fight For Three for American Dragon has been around since the cancellation of the show back in September 1, 2007. These members are just as devoted to their show American Dragon, as Kim Possible fans are to their show. An alliance was formed between Kim Possible fans and American Dragon fans to fight for both shows and to get Walt Disney not only to renew both shows, but to place both shows back onto the Disney Channel back to back, which would be a sure fire hit for Disney and the Disney Channel.

The fight to save American Dragon has not only begun, but has been raging onwards with the fury of a fire breathing Dragon. The fight for American Dragon is happening at http://www.savetheshows.com/ and at http://www.tv.com/american-dragon-jake-long/show/26513/summary.html both sites have active members in the struggle and cheers goes to Anna, Mike, Magan, amdragrocs, FOP_fan17, Imafreek, darklordavaitor, Teo, AzureSkies, Choco_47, ColtsPenguins, Videoguard, Huntsgirl_08, amdragfreak, Werquer 2008, Jake4Ever, JandSman, ChiDrag, Bloom36, and Deep Southern. As these people are just a few who deserve a round of applause for all their hard work in trying to save American Dragon.

The battle lines have been drawn much like it was in the medieval ages. Except this time the crusaders are American Dragon fans and there not out to slay a dragon, but are out to save it, as this dragon still has a lot of life left in it, if Disney will give it a second chance to breath.
