DRUM! Magazine Invites Neil Peart Fans To Sit In For June Issue;
Rush may have not won a grammy this year, but the band continues to be on the cutting edge of rock. And, much of that has to do with the innovative drumming of Neil Peart. He's won every drum industry award, multiple time, and there just may be more Neil Peart fan sites than current Internet bandwidth can handle.
Well, Enter Music Publishing, publishers of hip, drum/percussion magazines worldwide came up with a really, well, new twist on Neil.
As a result, Enter Music Publishing will feature Neil Peart on the cover of DRUM! Magazine in June; however, instead of having one of its staff writers interview Neil, the company is inviting Neil Peart fans to conduct the interviews via email.
The email address, neilpeart@drumlink.com is so the Neil Peart population can have their say. (The readers can also go online at http://www.drummagazine.com/features...neil-yourself/ or access a question page on DRUM!’s Youtube site, www.youtube.com.
Those fans who want to participate simply email their questions and, if chosen by editor, Andy Doerschuk, will have their names and pictures included in the story. “We've done this once before and it was a great succes,” said Phil Hood, publisher of Enter Music Publishing. “With Neil’s fans it will be even better. We're very curious to see what the results will be of our email story campaign. ”
After receiving all of the interview questions, which are due by March 15, Doerschuk will then weave them into an integrated interview. “Neil Peart seemed like a great pick for this kind of story,” Doerschuk said. “After all, he has won DRUM! Magazine's “drummie” of the year for two straight years. Our fan base, regardless of age, obviously respects him and that did play into our decision to try this with him.
DRUM! Magazine expects a great response from Peart fans to this opportunity. The company just hopes that its Drumlink.com server will not explode due to the amount of incoming email.

Neil Peart of Rush performing live, "The Trees", in Civic Auditorium Albuquerque, NM November 21, 1978. I had the front row center position for the entire concert. The best point of view I've ever had at any concert!

I've been a fan of the music of Rush, and I have admired Neil Peart's incredible drumming innovations for over 30 years. I've seen Rush live numerous times since the mid 1970s, and I'd like to remark on what a disciplined performer Neil is! This is my ticket stub that I saved from the "All the World's a Stage" tour, 1977.

DRUM! Magazine's "Email Neil Peart" Editorial Campaign is doing quite well. The magazine has received approximately 1000 emails from fans and drummers, who dig Peart. The deadline for submission is approaching soon (March 15).
