2011 has been a bad year in Dublin as many festivals (the maritime festival and the Dun Laoghaire festival to mention but two) were cancelled but fortunately the 2011 Gay Pride Parade took place today.
An estimated 26,000 people took part in todays's Gay Pride Parade through the centre of Dublin city.
The parade travelled from the Garden Of Remembrance on the north side of the Liffey to Wood Quay on the south side of the river
According to LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer) the 2011 Pride Parade was biggest in the country after St Patrick's Day.
After the parade, around 5,000 people attended the Post Parade Party where leading community members including Senator David Norris and Festival Grand Marshall Michael Barron spoke while Crystal Swing and Niamh Kavanagh were among the live performers.
