June 28, 2011- The "Dunkadelic" terminology was created in 1997 as the one-word that would define the fusion of basketball and hip-hop. The term is almost 15-years old and it still as fresh as it was back in '97.

The evolution of the word Dunkadelic has led to the creation of the new term "Dunkaffiti." Dunkaffiti: (noun) hoops and hip-hop inspired urban graffiti art and graphics.

Graffiti is one of the four original elements of hip-hop along with mcing, djing, and break dancing. The Dunkafitti term will lead to more art with a hoops and hip-hop culture theme. is

Dunkadelic History:

Dunkadelic (ATR Above the Rim) was the name of a 2003 sneaker worn by Allen Iverson of the Philadelphia 76ers for Michael Jordan's last played NBA game on April 16, 2003. The Sixers led by superstar Iverson defeated Jordan and the Washington Wizards 107-87.

Linda Cohn of ESPN was the first national sports anchor to use the Dunkadelic term to describe highlight dunks on the air during SportsCenter.

Dunkadelic was the title name of the 2005 January NBA Inside Stuff Special Collector's Edition Dunkadelic Issue with Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, LeBron James, and Tracy McGrady on the cover.

NBA 2K9 Continues its Dunkadelic Dynasty was the headline title of the national review for the popular computer game.

Time will tell if Dunkaffiti will have the sports and pop culture impact of Dunkadelic. Both the Dunkadelic and Dunkaffiti terms were created by NBHHCM (National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month) founder Derrick E. Vaughan.
