300 and Watchmen movie director Zack Snyder has signed a deal with Electronic Arts to make three new original titles, mirroring a similar deal made with Steven Spielberg in 2005.
Snyder will oversee the creation of three new titles at EA’s Los Angeles studio in Playa Vista, with the publisher retaining all the intellectual property rights.
According to the official statement, Electronic Arts will also maintain the option to turn any of the games into movie properties, to be produced by Snyder’s Cruel & Unusual Films.
Snyder will lead the creative direction of the games and work with the production team at EA Los Angeles, the same studio currently collaborating with Spielberg on the game "Boom Blox" for Nintendo Co Ltd's Wii.
EA will own the intellectual properties, and the game franchises will be developed, published and distributed worldwide by EA. The agreement includes efforts to extend the game franchises into theatrical motion pictures.
Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
