ADRENALIN junkie and business mogul Sir Richard Branson is bringing his renowned Virgin Music Festival to South Africa — because he “loves this country”.
The leading international music festival is heading to our shores this December, with an eclectic line-up of live international and local talent set to perform.
Notorious rapper Snoop Dogg, reggae singer Eddy Grant, pop bands Maroon 5 and One Republic, local bands The Parlotones, crunk group Jozi, rock maestros Zebra and Giraffe and the Dirty Skirts will all feature in the line-up.
“Music and entertainment have played a huge role at Virgin since the ’70s, when I launched Virgin Records. I am delighted that Virgin Festival will continue to make music a big part of people’s lives and especially here in South Africa,” said Branson.
The festival, owned by the Virgin Group, started in the UK in 1996. The event intends having 18 bands play for almost 12 hours.
Branson said the South African leg of the Virgin Music Festival takes place in Johannesburg on December 13, and in Cape Town on December 16.
