A representative of Chris Music concepts opened a can of worms on Monday when he addressed the panel during the Q&A section at the launch of the Carifest C.A.R.E.S Aids Benefit Concert.

“What does Carifest mean to you all?”, was the question that ignited a bombshell.

For the next two and half minutes Eek-a-Mouse went on a rampage, blasting white music execs for stifling black reggae artistes whilst selecting counterparts of a white or lighter complexion for major distribution deals and marketing campaigns.

During the tense moment Eek-a-Mouse referred to acts such as UB40, Matisyahu, Bob Marley, Shaggy and Sean Paul amongst those who have been placed in avenues of success because of their skin complexion.

In his defense he mentioned himself, Lee Sratch Perry, Gregory Issacs, Toots and the Maytals as some of the dark skinned artistes and performers who have never been given the opportunity to be exposed to the mainstream.

“Look pon matisyahu, who jus jump in the business and a sell millions, we want to sell millions to!!” he bellowed.

“Look pon me, raw born reggae to &%$#cloth. Go suck uno modda” he stated before leaving the press panel to a roaring crowd of obvious supporters of his argument.

Ironically Eek-a-Mouse is scheduled to appear on this year’s charity benefit alongside Matisyahu, Lee Scratch Perry, Groundation and Kayla Bliss and more on July 6th at the 40/40 club in Brooklyn New York.

The event is hosted by Short-E from the Tri-state’s Power105.1
