Dancehall Reggae pioneer, Eek-a-mouse A.K.A Ripton Hylton has been released on a reduced bail of 17,000 dollars, after being accused of rape and drug possession in Dare County, North Carolina.
Reports out of Kill Devil Hills, where Eek-a-mouse performed last Friday, is that the Artist was targeted by the small town police after allegations of raping a white female surfaced early the following Saturday.
The female in question had been seen in the presence of the reggae star moments before his Friday night performance and was in his room when the raid was conducted on Saturday night.
Kill Devil Hills police conducted a raid on Saturday night after obtaining a search warrant, once the “rape” allegations surfaced. They raided the Reggae star’s room and discovered a small amount of cocaine in the process, and Eek-a-mouse was immediately taken into custody , charged with drug possesion, kidnapping, rape and held at the Dare County Detention Center on Sunday, before obtaining legal counsel on Monday.
Initial bail was set for 50,000 dollars secured, but was reduced once it was discovered by counsel that the female in question, was also an informant for the police.
Eek-a-mouse who has been known for his propensity to party, and passionate respect for women will continue his scheduled US tour in Arizona this weekend.

I would like to say that I commend your newspaper for getting the facts RIGT, unlike some of the other news wires. I believe that the police department jumped the gun on this one and never really investigated the case completely. I just don't understand how someone can just make false accusations and then the police deparment goes and gets a illegal search warrant to invade someone's privacy.
This women is clearly lying and we have evidence to prove that she was never held against her will nor raped for that matter. There were three other people in the room that evening and they were fans of the entertainer. We have in our possession a photo of the accuser the next day in the room waiting for Mouse to come and take her for a walk on the beach. This photo clearly shows Amanda Rudder, the accuser, NOT be held against her will or under any duress whatesover. The police went out on a Fishing Expedition, illegally. They are trying to bring a famous black man down. They will not succeed because Mouse has to many loving and adoring fans and friends that is not going to allow this miscarriage of justice to continue. For the record, Eek-A-Mouse is a great person. And has always been very loyal and respectful to his fans, friends and family.

This is such a shame.
Truly I love the Outer Banks, but I am embarrassed sometimes to call this place home.
It is a shame when a talented entertainer comes to town and this is how we treat him. It's small town mentalities such as this that keep the Outer Banks from growing in a positive manner. The area is clearly going to grow, we can't prevent that. But we CAN guide it, shape it into something to be proud of.
A big "Shame on you!" to the Police Department, again. *sigh*

I just sent the photo to you that I received from one of the fans that was in the room that night and then the next day. This photo was actually taken the next day, around 2-4 in the afternoon, just right before she ran to the hospital claiming she was kidnapped, held against her will and raped. Please comment as to your thoughts on this one.

No gateway, I have not. I'll post comments as I learn more. Way too often people come to this town and party like there is no tomorrow...then something bad happens. I know the police dep't has snitches that were popped for drugs before. I know that women are date raped when they are drunk or drugged. It's the sad truth but both are highly possible in this case. If you have proof then dish it out because nobody else is.

She was not date raped nor kidnapped because she hung out in that room until 3-4 the next day of her own free will. She was also hanging outside of the room when one of the band members came over the next day around 1:00 p.m. to pick up the entertainer for lunch. She was playing with her dog, while waiting to be escorted to the beach for a walk with the dog and the entertainer. She continued to hang out in that room with two other fans. When the entertainer did not make it back to the room, she left her phone number with the fans for him to call her. If what she is saying is true, then why did she wait so long to go to the hospital? Why wait around another day in the room with the fans? Why not report the problem to the workers who where next door. The maid spoke to her as well and asked her if she was staying in that room, why not report the problem right then and there? Why not report the problem to the front desk?? Or is it only after she left the room the next day (24 hrs. later) of her own free will and spoke with her friends that they decided to conjoure up these false accusations. The photo that I have in my possession clearly shows this woman waiting around the next day not under any duress or constraints.
These are the facts. No one held her against her will. She was a willing participant and gave consent.
I don't know what machine is behind all of this but I do know that this is a BIG SETUP!

why should we believe your words over hers. you describe events but refuse to display evidence to support it why does the initial article fabricate details of eak a mouse's bond being lowered when it never was and at the same time stoop to slander by portraying the girl as a police informant for reporting the rape well yeah she was a police informant she informed the police of her rape but his bond was never lowered to 17000 thats bs i'm not saying he's innocent or guilty but why does this article wich was obviously written by an eak a mouse fan who just might happen to work for some people who are friends with the guy why does this author feel he must lye in order to convince people of some ones innocence.

I personally know the Mouse - I know he likes to party and I know he loves to get freaky with women...
However... he will NEVER be accused of rape because he "screens" his women b4 hand. Any woman who accuses the Mouse of rape is lying - he tells them exactly what he wants and how he wants it b4 he EVER leaves the room wit dem...

As far as the article is concerned, I never wrote it. I only responded to it.
In reply to the bond issue, YES, his bond was reduced to $17,000 after it was disclosed in court that the accuser was working for the police department as an informant.
As far as the evidence is concerned, I tried to email the photo but it came back as undeliverable. And then I read from another blogger that I shouldn't post anything but instead release it to the police department or the attorney, which I have.
Those are the FACTS. Please try and wait to get all of the FACTS before casting judgement.

Not sure if he's innocent or not, but Eek-A-Mouse is a serious party animal. That has been well known for years. Too bad "The Mouse" cant keep his nose out the candy.

The partying animal part, might be correct at times. But that doesn't give a person the right or should I say people with alterior motives, to just flat out lie and SETUP a famous person or anyone else for that matter. But I guess when your business is known as you say to others and they see what they perceive to be a weakness, people/or the powers that be will try to take advantage.
In addition, I have been reading statements on various blogs and the opinions of most is that this is a big setup. I have also read that Mouse's tour bus was raided back in 1997 because of the weed smoking that was going on in the bus. One person went so far as to say that he should have never came back to Kill Devil Hills because they were just waiting for him to arrive so that they could finger him with something. I've spoken to a couple of people that were on that bus back in 1997 and they informed me that the chief of police's son was on that bus having fun and smoking. It seems like the department never forgot that incident and decided to target Mouse for his partying behavior.
Nonetheless, these charges are SERIOUS and they are also UNTRUE. This woman is a flat out wacko that was sent to SETUP Mouse. Everyone that was there knows this to be true. Thank GOD that there were other people in that room that night and the following morning and afternoon that will testify to the fact that Mouse never held her against her will or raped her for that matter. Justice for the Mouse will prevail!!!

I know him personally and he's never shown anything but respect for women while I was with him! And I know him rather well! He was most likely framed... I'm pretty sure!
