The 2010 Olympic Games has become a huge and highly anticipated event for many Canadians. Much of British Columbia's funding has been put into the building of infrastructure for this event. However, along with all of the positive effects that have been surrounded by the games, many can argue that it has also brought harm to Vancouver as well. One such arguement includes the harm the games are doing on homeless people in vancouver. This has been caused by the lack of tax dollars being spent on food and shelter for the homeless as it is instead being spent on preparations for the olympics. This is not entirely the governments fault though, as they cannot just simply take this money for all of higher society. Not to mention that much of the money into the games will ultimately result in the gain of much more during the time that the games take place. Furthurmore the cost of housing is also currently at a high rate and is something that will be much worse during the games. Due to the amount of tourists that will be visiting the city during the games, the challenge for homeless to be able to abtain shelt will be further increased.
