Egoism as ethics is something to be self-centred. What the capitalist socio-economic system teaches us is to be self-centred, or greedy. The reason capitalists support it is that this fastens development and civilization through the instrument of what the call ‘competition’. But should egoism be supported and is it only competition the only way for socio-economic advancement?

Today, the business environment is that it is moving from confrontation (competition) to collaboration, cooperation, strategic alliance, partnership, co-petition, and the like. This is because individuals or organizations cannot achieve what they desire by going through it alone. Besides, no individual or organization is self-sufficient fulfilling any sort of capabilities.

Therefore, the trend shows a collaborative move toward socio-economic advancement and this is against egoism. So, why are the capitalists support egoism when the environment is demanding win-win than win-lose and collaboration than confrontation?
