Elizabeth Edwards is Conducting Her First TV Interviews Since Separation From John Edwards

She appeared on The TODAY show with Matt Lauer, and is set to appear on Larry King Live on Wednesday night and even did a sit down interview with People Magazine; Elizabeth Edwards is making the media rounds for the first time since she split with her husband in January.

In the Today interview Edwards says that thought her husband was being truthful when he told her he had just had a one-night stand, and she only gradually pieced together the fact that it must have been more than that. It was in 2008 that John Edwards confessed to an affair with Rielle Hunter and Elizabeth said he told her only 'hours' before that.

Now she is re-releasing her book Resilience with a new epilogue that details the breakup of her family and she is undergoing a new chemotherapy regime and continues to fight breast cancer.

She also finds strength in Sandra Bullock and told Matt Lauer that she wants to be more like her and come back from such a devastating part of her life.

“And yet the stories you hear are not about all of those great successes, but about the failure of her marriage. And I thought, ‘That’s not who she is.’ I assume she wants to reclaim who she is, in the same way I want to reclaim who I am.”

Edwards told People that John's behavior was terrible and what he did to her and their children was awful:

"John's conduct through this whole thing was terrible and it makes people want him to pay for it," Elizabeth says. "On a personal level, he's paid a lot."

She did say that their children's relationship with their father is a good one, and even she has managed to maintain a good relationship with John.

“I have three living children for whom this is a father who I want them to love and on whom they’re going to have to rely if my disease takes a bad turn,” she said in the interview. “It’s really important to me that they see him in a positive light.”

Elizabeth Edward's interview with Larry King airs Wednesday night.

Having gone through an ugly divorce where the children were used as pawns, which years later, when the kids grew up,they recognized the game that was played with them and their father is not the auger he was painted out to be,had a reverse affect and now the children have little or no contact with their mother, but adore their dad. Elizabeth's maturity in handling the bad hand she has been dealt by her husband,in as much as she wishes her children to have a normal relationship with their father,is commendable and demonstrates what an unselfish, classy person she is. My hat goes off to her.
