of

THE BOOK OF THE KING IN KING JAMES ENGLISH:

The Story of Elvis Aaron Presley in the language of the one book he loved the most:

The King James Bible.

BOOK SIX: KINGS

Chapter 1

1     For nearly four hundred years the Romans ruled the lands

2     North of the Mountains and the great Island off the coast.

3     Always keeping the Barbarians who could not be conquered

4     on the East side of a great river,

5     For the Romans suffered no bridge to be built across it

6     Lest the Barbarians enter in and consume them.

7     And it came to pass in process of time

8     that the Barbarians who were Christians prayed unto God

9     and their children sighed by reason of the bondage of the Romans.

10   And they cried, and their cry came up unto God,
by reason of their bondage.

11   Thence God caused a great cold to come upon the land
and the river across which

12   the Romans kept the Barbarians at bay

13   suddenly froze.

14   Yea on the last day of an old year

15   and on the first day of a new year

16   froze the great river.

17   And thence came the Barbarians across the ice quickly in great multitudes

18   and entered the Roman lands with weapons in hand,

19   and they could not be held back.

20   And they began to destroy all that the Romans had built

21   and to defeat the Romans in battle,

22   and even sought to march upon Rome

23   as they had been marched upon for four hundred years.

Chapter 2

1     Thence began the Romans in haste to withdraw unto Rome.

2     And they took all the stolen treasure their wagons could hold,

3     and buried the rest deep in the earth,

4     where much doth remain unto this day.

5     And lo, many of the Barbarian lands

6     even the great isle,

7     were left to rule themselves

8     as the Barbarians followed the Romans even unto their city

9     and entered in at the strong gate

10   ending their rule in the North forever.

11   And among these people now free of the Romans

12   were the forefathers of the king

13   Albeit, none of these are known by name.

14   For the ancestors of the king who came before him

15   are as the sands beside the sea,

16   their names forgotten except by God,

17   just as are the most part of our own forefathers.

Chapter 3

1     Now in those days when the Romans departed

2     there was no king on the island,

3     but every man did that which was right in his own eye.

4     And the multitudes saw that other lands

5     had princes and kings and queens,

6     and they desired to have these for themselves.

7     And there arose many

8     who desired to be king,

9     that they might have great land and riches for themselves.

10   And there were some who followed this man that would be king

11   and some who followed others who would be king.

12   And some said we have no part in such and such a king,

13   and we have also more right in the land than others.

14   And many followed only the leaders of their own tribes.

15   And there were wars and rumors of wars and rebellions

16   as each man who would be king over the Isle

17   sought to cut off all others.

18   And the people rejected many who would be king,

19   from reigning over them.

20   And many repented that they had ever wanted a king.

21   For some who rose high reigned over all their own hearts desire

22   and did as they pleased to the people

23   Just as the Romans had done.

24   And Christian fought against Christian on the island,

25   for hundred upon hundred of years,

26   over who would be the one king of all the land.

Chapter 4

1     And in time came the heads of the tribes and the great men of war and gathered together,

2     for they were all much tired of war.

3     And the wise among them said, The Romans who consumed us and devised against us that

4     we should always be subject unto them

5     have long been expelled from our coasts.

6     Yet still have we no one king for our land.

7     Come let us reason together that we might have peace.

8     And though sword was always nearby and oft used,

9     they made a league and a covenant with each other and chose one among them to lead the people.

10   And thus, they annointed him king.

11   And the LORD unified the island that day.

12   Then the elders of the tribes said unto all the people,

13   Behold, we have hearkened unto your voice in all that ye said unto us,

14   for ye sought in times past for but one to be king over all of you.

15   Thus we have done as thy hearts desired and made a king over you.

16   Behold, here is thy king:

17   Then the king arose and sat on the throne.

18   And all was told unto the people saying, Behold, the king doth sit on the throne of all the people.

19   And all the people came before him and bowed.

20   And he said, I am this day king over this land.

21   And they blew with the trumpet, and said,

22   God save the king.

23   He shall feed the people, and shall be a captain over all the isle.

24   Now shall no man ever flee unto his own tent in time of war,

25   but he shall lead us, and we shall follow him.

26   And it delighted the people to see him on the throne,

27   to be king over them

28   to do judgement and justice.

29   And all the people rejoiced greatly.

Chapter 5

1     And the kingdom was lifted up on high,

2     because of the people and their king.

3     And whenever there be war the king went out and against them.

4     Yea, the king leddest out and broughtest in the people.

5     And there were many officers and men of valor in the business and service of the king,

6     and the king had officers over all the isle,

7     men who were over the tribute and who provided vicuals and wealth for the king and his household,

8     each officer in his time made provision.

9     And though the king and the kings who followed him all did sin in many ways,

10   and though the most of the people were yet suffering and poor and remained so,

11   Yet among many nations was there none like the nation of this island.

12   The nation from which in times to be,

13   would come the ancestors of the king's mother.
