Elvis Presley Birthday Celebrations Held Around the World
Fans of Elvis Presley gather every year to celebrate the birthday of "the King" on January 8th.
Born in 1935, this year Elvis would have been 74 years old.
Presley's hometown of Memphis, Tennessee is, of course, a special spot for celebrations — and the 2009 festivities are taking place all through the week and weekend.
His Graceland estate will host a number of events including live performances, a scavenger hunt, tours of the estate, and Elvis bingo!
What are you doing to celebrate the 74th birthday of 'the king of rock & roll'?

Aside from the revealing photographs and dioramas, the museum itself is noteworthy because the memorabilia (a few costumes, some photos, etc.) largely comes from the collection of longtime family friend, Janelle McComb. When he was 4, Elvis befriended McComb, who was about 11 years older, and they kept in touch after the Presleys moved to Memphis. When Elvis died in 1977, Vernon asked McComb to write the epitaph for his grave. The museum, which was updated in 2006, takes about 15 minutes to walk through, and unlike the trek through Graceland, nobody's crying at the end. Instead, visitors are more likely to be quietly humbled to see how one of the world's most famous entertainers came from such an unlikely place.

How could it not be. Was he not and still is for many the King of Rock N' Roll. I do like his German Folk Songs, yes he did sing in German as well.

ELvis has been impersonated so much that its now hard to remember that his sound was absolutely unique - its good that he's still loved.
