Emmy Nominations 2009: Full List of Emmy Award Nominees
The Emmy Nominations for 2009 have been announced, and no doubt our first reactions will be along the lines of "Why the &%# didn't _____ get nominated?!" This is particularly true for Battlestar Galactica fans (see below), whose futuristic cussing I can hear rising from the streets like evaporating morning fog. Check out the full list of 2009 Emmy Nominations here. 30 Rock scored an amazing 22 nominations.
There are more categories than you'll see televised, especially since the advent of reality TV. Also, lots of postproduction awards (Geek Emmys) whose winners never get their 15 seconds of fame. There are hairstyling nominations, reality-show host nominations, and interactive media nominations. Nominations for lighting direction and title design. All these facets of filmmaking add to the viewer experience, but we rarely see their creators honored in public.
For Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie, I'd not want to be up against SIr Ian McKellen's King Lear for PBS.
The category I care most about is Outstanding Drama Series:
- Big Love
- Breaking Bad
- Damages
- Dexter
- House
- Lost (<-- my favorite of the season)
- Mad Men (<--my prediction to win)
And with seven individual shows nominated for Best Drama Series, how come there was no room (AGAIN) for Battlestar Galactica, nor a single acting honoree from the groundbreaking sci-fi series. What. The. Frak? Do Emmy voters somehow not manage to get SciFi (SyFy?) on their cable lineups?
The Emmy Awards show will be aired on September 21, 2009.

The Emmy Nominations for 2009 have been announced, and no doubt a lot of people have been waiting for the list of nominees. The Emmy Nominations 2009 list is long, which has a lot to do with the number of categories, and there 101. At any rate, Outstanding Drama nominees include Lost, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Mad Men, and House MD. Outstanding Comedy nominees include 30 Rock, Entourage, and Family Guy. Some of the acting nominations are Alec Baldwin, Steve Carell, Hugh Laurie, and veteran William Shatner, for his role in Boston Legal, which was recently canceled. The nominated shows put a lot of fast cash into a TV show good enough to get on the list of Emmy Nominations 2009.
